2020 Annual It’s Instrumental Gala Sponsored by First Alliance Credit Union
Virtual Event: Friday, October 23, 6:30-8 PM
In the interest of the safety and health of our guests, the annual It’s Instrumental event will be virtual this year. Join SEMYO for this special celebration of music education and the positive impact it has on our children. The event will include a live broadcast featuring performances by current and former SEMYO musicians, the presentation of the Bravura Award for Excellence in Music Education to be awarded this year to Joseph Mish, Orchestra Director at Pine Island Schools, and a live dessert auction. Performers include the SEMYO Woodwind Trio, Amy and Cate Crockett (cello duo), and Corey Henke and Elliana Prigge (horn duo). The event will also include special guest Erik Rohde who will speak and perform on the violin. Dr. Rohde is the conductor of the Winona Symphony Orchestra, Assistant Professor of Music at the University of North Iowa, and an alumnus of SEMYO. Leading up to the event an online auction will start on Friday, October 16 at 3 PM and close on Friday, October 23 at 8:30 PM. To bid on a variety of homemade items and experiences from local donors visit https://www.32auctions.com/Semyo2020Gala.
The event will be broadcast live via You Tube Friday, October 23:
Sales are closed for It’s Instrumental virtual tickets and meals, however you are invited to contribute to SEMYO with a tax-deductible contribution or by sponsoring a SEMYO musician. Your contribution helps keep this activity affordable for youth in our community and helps spread the joy of music!
Help us to reach our goal of raising $20,000 for SEMYO!
When you sponsor a chair your name will appear on all digital and printed concert programs as a sponsor for a SEMYO musician of your choice. You may choose a musician you know, an instrument you like, or let the SEMYO staff choose for you. This is a great way to support our enthusiastic SEMYO kids!
“I play music because I get to experience new worlds and emotions that I normally wouldn’t. It allows me to travel the world without leaving home and feel someone else’s pain without having experienced it firsthand. SEMYO has allowed me to discover orchestra, a discovery that has truly changed my life for the better. Listening to the sound of an orchestra is enthralling, but being a part of that sound is a magical experience.”
