Artistic Director and Conductor of Concert Orchestra

After conducting across Europe and the United States, Keehun Nam has returned to Minnesota to grow and invest in musical communities in his home state.

Mr. Nam currently serves as the Artistic Director of the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras (SEMYO) where he oversees its five orchestras and conducts its top ensemble. At SEMYO, he fosters a collaborative atmosphere that empowers students on personal and musical levels.

In Europe, Mr. Nam has conducted orchestras in Berlin, St. Petersburg, Cyprus, Czech Republic, and Bulgaria. In North America, he has conducted concerts at the Cabrillo Festival of Contemporary Music, the National Music Festival, Cornell University, Vanderbilt University, McGill University, and Ithaca College, among others.

During his time as graduate conducting assistant at Ithaca College, Mr. Nam conducted the school Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Sinfonietta, Contemporary Ensemble, and Gamer Orchestra, and led two seasons of musical theater productions as the Orchestra Director at Savoyards Ithaca.

Prior to moving to Ithaca, he founded and served as Music Director of the Vanderbilt Commodore Orchestra, an ensemble that continues to be a beloved fixture of the Vanderbilt community.

Mr. Nam has closely collaborated with world-class soloists such as Jeremy Wilson, Peter Sheppard-Skærved, and Malcolm Bilson, and takes pride in championing new works of music by world-class and student composers alike.

When he is not conducting or studying scores, he can be found cooking, hiking, canoeing, computer programming, and spending time with his wife and dog.
