In Full Bloom: SEMYO Spring 2023 Concert

Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras will present its spring concert In Full Bloom on Sunday, May 21 in the Century High School auditorium. The concert will feature all five SEMYO orchestras and highlight the progress made by our talented student musicians during the 2022-2023 season.

In Full Bloom will be presented in two parts:

2:00 PM – Prelude Winds, Bravura Strings, and Chamber Strings

3:15 PM – Philharmonic Orchestra and Concert Orchestra

Featured works will include Spring by Brian Balmages (Prelude Winds), Moonlight Shadows by Mike Kamuf (Bravura Strings), an arrangement of Vivaldi’s Concerto Grosso featuring Chamber Strings with student soloists, and Russian Sailor’s Dance by Reinhold Gliére (Philharmonic Orchestra). The advanced Concert Orchestra will finish the program by putting students in the spotlight: 2023 Concerto Competition winner Sawyer Thompson will perform the first movement of Violin Concerto No. 1 by Max Bruch and student conductors Briar Daire, Malcom Gentry, and Edra Clements will each lead the orchestra in a different movement from the original motion picture soundtrack for Star Wars.

Admission to the concert is a goodwill donation (suggested $10 for adults) and doors open at 1:30 PM. Donations will be accepted at the door or can be submitted online anytime prior to the concert. If submitting online simply change the price to the amount you wish to donate.

There is no reserved seating. Audience members may attend either one or both portions of the concert.

The Concert Orchestra Student Leadership team will host a bake
sale and reception after both portions of the concert and all audience members are invited to attend.

In Full Bloom is graciously sponsored by Arlene Schuman realtor for REMAX Results, Schmitt Music, GLK Orthodontics, and Olmsted Medical Center.
