Bravura Strings

About Bravura Strings

Bravura Strings an ensemble for student musicians with at least one year experience playing violin, viola, cello, or bass. This is a fun, educational ensemble for young string players who want to increase in skill while making music with friends!

Orchestra members will increase musical aptitude and learn basic ensemble playing skills while rehearsing and performing in a string orchestra, and prepare for future participation in the SEMYO Chamber Strings orchestra.

Skills covered include learning key signatures up to 3 sharps and 2 flats, understanding dotted rhythms and sixteenth notes, matching bow direction and placement within the ensemble, and learning to listen and play with other ensemble members.

Violin and viola players will play primarily in 1st position, cello and bass players will learn to play in 2nd & 3rd position.

Participants should have 1-2 years playing experience and basic knowledge of her or his instrument (or at the end of Suzuki Book 1 or starting Book 2). A simple audition is required that will include 2 scales and a musical excerpt. Visit our audition page for instructions on how to submit an audition.
