The Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestra (SEMYO) is based in Rochester MN and consists of 4 instrumental ensembles of youth from around SE Minnesota elementary through highschool.   

PERSPIRATION. TRANSFORMATION. INSPIRATION.

There is something quite mesmerizing about musical instruments with all of those curious shapes and curves, the infinite buttons to push and press down on, the strings to be stroked or plucked. Even more thrilling are the vibrations that shake through their frames when a group of young students breathe life into them.

Each week throughout the school year, the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras (SEMYO) perform for empty chairs filled with imaginary people. Wrong notes. Bad timing. PERSPIRATION.

Then somehow, by week six, a motley group of students donned in sloppy sneakers, baggy jeans and t-shirts turn into credible musicians and play as a group. Teamwork. Harmony. TRANSFORMATION.

Under the direction of talented instructors and dedicated volunteers, the Southeastern Minnesota Youth Orchestras (SEMYO) enlighten, uplift and reach new dimensions with each performance. INSPIRATION.
